Dressing the Part of a Kay Dee Lady with MDC Artistic Designs
A little over a week ago, Kappa Delta Sorority celebrated 117 years of sisterhood. Being a member of this incredible organization, I spent some time reflecting on what membership has meant to me over the past six and a half years. I can honestly say, without a doubt, that I would not have nearly as much confidence and determination had I not joined KD and taken advantage of the many opportunities it offered. From serving as president, to attending a national convention by myself, to learning conversation skills during recruitment, I am a stronger and wiser individual because of it. Even more importantly, I love and appreciate a little harder because I have experienced the bond of sisterhood. In honor of my sisters, I decided to showcase a very Kappa Delta outfit on the blog today, featuring very special accessories by one of the very best jewelry designers I have come to know and love: Marlene from MDC Artistic Designs.
Dress: BCBG via Goodwill Pashmina: Mall Kiosk Clutch: c/o Grandma Earrings: MDC Artistic Designs
Everything about this outfit reminds me of Kappa Delta. During the last night of recruitment, we always wore black dresses and I love the timeless look of this gorgeous BCBG dress (that I snagged for under $5! Last worn to this special occasion). Our colors are green and white, so this deep emerald scarf is a must; I wore it often during my senior year of college. An extra special touch is in the pearl clutch that my grandma gave me many years ago--not only does it have pearls, but the swirl design is reminiscent of a nautilus shell, one of my absolute favorite KD symbols.
Lastly, I think the true beauty of this outfit is in the earrings. When Marlene reached out to me to see what earrings I was coveting most, I couldn't pick just one, but these Natural Green Onyx Statement Earrings were at the very top of my list. I think the color is absolutely stunning and unlike any other pair I own. It's a bit dressier than most of the earrings I wear, but not ostentatious in any way. I can see these statement earrings being the perfect touch to any evening or going out ensemble. Check out her other incredible statement earrings here. ( Oh, and scroll to the bottom to see what Marlene has so generously offered to all of you!)
I've talked about MDC Artistic Designs here and here before and I have a feeling I'll continue to be talking about her for many years to come. Marlene is an artist, a confident business woman, a mother, and a friend. She cares deeply about her craft and her customers and she takes the art of designing and creating jewelry to a whole new level. For instance, these earrings were inspired by Karine Vanasse, an absolutely stunning and classy French Canadian actress--how amazing is it that she can translate the essence of someone in a pair of earrings! I am a true fan, and I know that if you browse her shop, you will be too.
