Sunday Best: v. 16: Typewriter Tees and Cords
Tee: Wildcard Blazer: LOFT Cords: LOFT Flats: Payless
There's a special kind of breed out there. The one that has this strange infatuation with things like old-fashioned typewriters and rotary phones--even if they don't work anymore. The one that scours thrift stores and yard sales for these items and then proudly displays them on their IKEA Expedit shelves. I know I'm not alone in this preoccupation with vintage communication tools because I recently discovered a fantastic new t-shirt that combines two of my favorite things: typewriters and Pittsburgh.
In early October, a few of my colleagues and I spent our lunch break in Lawrenceville at quite possibly the coolest store I've ever been in: Wildcard. After spending several minutes swooning over clever handmade cards, stationery sets, cute pouches, artisan earrings, coffee table books, and succulents in coffee mugs, I came across their collection of Pittsburgh t-shirts. I've had a vintage Pittsburgh tee on my wish list for months now, so I was pretty thrilled. Now it was just a matter of choosing one.
While I loved them all (and will probably go back to pick up another one), there really wasn't a question about which one I'd take home with me. I mean, come on. It says, "Dear Pittsburgh, I love you." Need I say more?
I've had so much fun styling this tee already. I am always surprised at how easy it is to incorporate a soft vintage tee into your every day wardrobe. "Dressier" than regular cotton tees, it adds a casual element to tone down a more elevated look or it makes a basic casual look just a little more "fancy." A win-win in my book.
And, HEY cords! Great to see ya. These are actually new, but it's always a sign that fall is here when you break out the corduroys for the first time of the year. I bought this dark burgundy pair last month during one of LOFT's 40% off sales and I don't regret a thing. I'm always surprised with how much they add to what would have been a basic jeans outfit.
Dear Typewriter Tees and Cords, I love YOU.

Chelsea from Ginger Side of Life had the most clicked-on outfit in last week's Sunday Best! I love how she wore white for fall so perfectly.
