My Happy Space
Warning: The following before pictures may, in fact, cause you to change your opinion about me and my lifestyle habits (i.e. cleaning and organizing) and/or give you the urge to go clean any and all rooms in your house. I am not held responsible for any and all reactions :) You have been thoroughly warned. One of my 13 New Years Resolutions was to create/update my craft space in order to have a creative, organized, and inspiring space to work, think, dream, and create in. I am very lucky to have this space in my apartment dedicated solely to creating and storing, but over the past 8ish months, it has slowly grown into more of a hoarding zone rather than a creative outlet.
I'm pretty embarrassed to show you this, but this is practically an online diary--might as well show you the real me :P But anyway, cut me some slack--this is my first apartment! When I've been exhausted after a long day of teaching, the last thing I want to do is organize a room that has zero storage possibilities outside of a small closet.
Enter the IKEA Expedit Shelving unit. AKA my new best friend. Thanks to a generous gift for helping out with the middle school musical, I was able to make this wonderful purchase and I am so grateful. If you're looking for storage solutions that won't put a huge hole in your wallet and are aesthetically pleasing, check them out! I also bought some Kassett boxes to put my craft supplies in. (Why do I have so much craft supplies and I am not a self-proclaimed craft blogger? Thanks to my grandma who used to be an extremely talented seamstress, I have been blessed with a lot of her supplies.)
And here is the result! (Better pictures will come another time I promise!)
I think what I love most about this space is that I am filled with inspiration the moment I walk in. It instantly feels so much brighter and open. I feel more calm and relaxed now that everything has a place. Even though I still have a long ways to go to make it more decorated and homey, I am really happy with it.
And just for fun, here's the Before and After together.
Hope you're having a great day! Don't forget--if you get a chance, please consider voting for me in StyleMint's Style For Your City contest! Here's why. Thanks so much!
