On Wednesdays We Wear Pink
I realize that it is not Wednesday today, but during our spirit week at school two weeks ago, we had a Pink Day on Wednesday. I hadn't worn this short sleeved magenta H&M top in a year probably, so I thought it was the perfect opportunity. (I was inspired by Heidi's (from Literate & Stylish) participation in No Longer Neglected!) Normally I have trouble wearing solid colored short sleeved blouses in the winter because I am limited with my cardigan options. I was worried this would be too much black, but I think it worked out better than I expected. I felt a little dressier than normal for work and one of my students even asked me if I was attending some special meeting or something.

I bought this top on clearance because I really love how it cinches in at the waist. I'll admit that I don't wear it very often, but this blog has taught me to put some extra thought into what I wear every day and challenge myself to try new pairings and combinations. What I've noticed, however, is that I don't always feel satisfied with a "boring" outfit--something I would've chosen before I really started to take my style a little more seriously. So when I put on this outfit, I over-thought the whole thing and thought it might be a bit boring; what I discovered, however was that it was still a successful and put-together outfit, completely appropriate for work. That's what style is all about, isn't it? This outfit was a good reminder that I don't have to pressure myself into trying new things every day; I already have the tools to put together a simple, but effective outfit.
I hope you are all having a wonderful day! If you haven't heard through the grapevine about the demise of Google Reader, everybody's making the switch. I'm still on the fence about Bloglovin', but you can catch me there here. I'd love to see some new followers so I can stop by and say hello!
