Silver Bell Ball
I had the (ahem) pleasure of chaperoning the Silver Bell Ball last Saturday at the high school where I teach. Let me tell you--it was amusing, terrifying, boring, and fun all in one evening. The best part of the evening, for me, was that I was able to dress up and see the kids dressed up, too. Figuring out what to wear was a little difficult because it is the only formal/semi-formal dance we have except for Senior Ball (which is so sad! I LOVED dances in high school!) AND I'm a teacher so I have to be careful.
I settled on a LBD, a sparkly necklace and silver earrings, and black tights. The dress itself came from Goodwill with a slight alteration (about a $10-15 dress!), my mom bought me the necklace about two years ago, the earrings are from GW, and the tights are from No nonsense. Did you see my post about how amazingly comfortable they are?
I took a few quick pictures before I left for the dance, but unfortunately they came out blurry. I think I really need to invest in a good camera...I just don't want to fork out the cash! Any suggestions? What camera do you use? What would you recommend?
So this is the best I've got.
The dress was a wee bit short for school, so the tights were an absolute must. And yes, I know I need a tree skirt for my darling little Christmas tree! I'm going to play the new-teacher-first-apartment card for as long as it is acceptable ;)
The dance went off without a hitch, except for a minor moment when a male student forced me into the middle of the dance floor by wrapping his tie around me, pulling me in, and the students promptly surrounded me. That didn't go over well.
Other than that, their dancing was rather mild for their personalities (or maybe I'm just used to college fraternity parties?) and we didn't have to worry about much.
Hope you are all having a wonderful hump day!
