It's the Comment that Counts

I'm going to preface this post by assuring you that the purpose of this post is NOT to guilt all of you into commenting more on my blog. I promise you! In fact, this post is more about giving myself a kick in the butt to do what all bloggers look forward to: write more comments! I'll be the first to tell you that I don't subscribe to blogs. Instead, I add them to my Google Reader and follow them via RSS. It's not that I don't want to show my loyalty to my favorite blogs (seriously--I LOVE blogs like What I Wore, Little Miss Momma, IHeart Organizing and Kendi Everyday!), it's simply because I hate clogging up my inbox. I'm the type of person that has to clear away any notifications I get, whereas I really enjoy reading blogs on my own time.

But what I've realized recently is that I don't think many of my favorite bloggers even know that I'm reading their blogs! Sure, they may see me as another number on their page view list on Google Analytics, but what does that really mean?

Bloggers enjoy connecting with other people and exchanging life's lessons; typically the only way to do this is through engaging in conversation that is two-sided. This starts with comments or link parties or sponsoring and it grows into beautiful friendships.

Take this for example: When I was going through an awkward time trying to decide what my purpose of blogging was, my blog friends stepped up and reminded me why it was all worth it. They were supportive, but realistic. They helped get me back on track.

(Thanks, Jen from Coco, Wellesley, and Paco!)

Or when I was making the difficult move after graduation and finding teaching to be totally different from what I expected, again, these wonderful friends took the time to let me know I wasn't alone and I could make it.

(Thanks, Heidi from literate & stylish!)

I am so grateful for these friends and it is time for me to pay it forward even more than ever.

So this is my goal for myself. And I'm writing it here so that you can hold me accountable. I want to make sure my favorite blogs know that I appreciate their content, enjoy their life lessons, covet their fashionable looks and DIY projects, and feel inspired by their lives by leaving more comments that are heartfelt and supportive.

Would you join me in this task? Let's make it a goal to visit our blogger friends and give them some feedback at least once a day or how about after every post we write ourselves? Whatever way works best. Let's spread some comment love!
